Kris Hansen serves as CEO of Western Home Services. In addition to growing the organization he leads, Kris has helped other Iowa organizations reposition and expand their campuses around the state and region.
Kris has long been involved with public policy and advocacy, both in Iowa and Washington, D.C. The national organization, LeadingAge, presented him with its Outstanding Advocacy Award in 2012. He has also received several leadership awards from LeadingAge Iowa and Iowa Health Care Association, including the Francis Lackner Award, which is the highest honor LeadingAge Iowa bestows. In 2019, Kris was awarded the Legacy Award by Grow Cedar Valley, a regional economic development group, in recognition of lifetime achievements and legacy contributions to his community.
Kris has served on various boards and committees for many organizations at both state and national levels. Currently, he serves on the Not-for-Profit Council with the American Health Care Association and is chair of Legislative Policy and Reimbursement for IHCA. He has served as chair of LeadingAge Iowa’s board of directors, as well as chair of their Public Policy Committee. He is former Audit Committee chair for LeadingAge national, and served as a member of the Finance Committee before that. Kris is a founding member of RedCedar, a public-private partnership of entrepreneurs, private businesses, colleges, cities, and economoic development partners with the purpose of helping entrepreneurs and high-growth startups learn faster and accelerate their growth.
Kris helped assemble and serves as board chair of the Thrive Alliance, a national collaboration of senior living organizations representing the entire longevity community. It is the mission of the Thrive Alliance to accelerate learning, research, validation and commercialization of emerging products, service models, and technologies focused on the global aging population.
Sought out as a thought leader for topics related to healthcare, aging services, technology and innovation, Kris is a frequent speaker and panelist at healthcare and technology summits around the country. He has also provided consult to many aging services organizations and technology companies including Amazon, Apple, CDW, Samsung, etc.
